The point of art is to show us that each of us isn’t normal. And that’s normal – The Philosophy of: Leo Tolstoy

Our picture of what is normal isn’t true to how most of us actually are.

The brilliance of Leo Tolstoy as a writer can be primarily put down to one thing. And that’s that he was able to capture the normal abnormalities that are the inner workings of our own minds. The thoughts, fantasies, fears, selfish desires, and the potentially embarrassing, shocking or horrifying thoughts and feelings that at some point we all have, whether we want to admit it or not.

That we are all, in fact, not normal.
