Ya just wouldn’t believe it. Ghana, Africa’s Black Stars, and heroes of the 2010 World Cup took home their first African Cup of Nations since 1982 on FIFA14 yesterday. Wow. I mean WOW. Here are the highlights of the 5-4 Final victory over Senegal yesterday:
Just wild. WILD. I mean WOWWEEWEEWAH. Let’s take a look back at an AFCON21 (administered by FIFAD) that will never be forgotten. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and recap how it all unfolded.
Group Stage
During a whirlwind and controversial 4 week period at the start of 2022, Ghana’s rollercoaster ride to the trophy was nothing short of spectacular. They were defeated 3-2 by Morocco in their opener, and in their second group encounter just narrowly avoided defeat to Gabon, with an Adomah goal salvaging a 1-1 draw for the Black Stars. This meant Ghana needed a win in their final group game against Comoros, and indeed, they got it, taking out the match 2-0, with Asamoah Gyan scoring the critical go-ahead goal in the 58th minute, before a Michael Essien strike settled the encounter in the final minute. Thanks to clinical performance, Ghana advanced to the second round in 2nd place ahead of Gabon on Fair Play (by virtue of having been shown one fewer yellow cards).

Round of 16
The Ghanaians then knocked over Burkina Faso with relative ease in the round of 16, to set up a mouthwatering quarter final clash with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions.
In one of the other Round of 16 clashes, Senegal sent COCKHEADS Gabon packing, with a last minute strike. Suck it, wankers.
Quarter-Final: Ghana 6-6 Cameroon (Ghana win 4-3 on penalties)
1st Semi-Final: Egypt 5-7 Ghana
2nd Semi-Final: Tunisia 0-2 Senegal
THE FINAL: Senegal 4-5 Ghana
