Those who identify with Stoic philosophy, don’t refer to themselves as ‘Stoics.’* But as Massimo Pigliucci says (at 15:00), they prefer to refer to themselves as ‘Prokoptontis’.
What is a prokoptontis?
Someone who is hopefully making progress.
And that seems like a good and virtuous way to live life. You can’t be perfect, but you can constantly be your best, and make your best better.
And here’s the video, a great chat about the similarities and differences between Stoicism and Existentialism.
*As Massimo, says, it’s ‘mostly because they think it’s pretentious’.
