Euro 2020 (which for copyright reasons will from here on in be referred to as Eurlo 2020) is just a day away, so let’s take a walk down reverse memory lane and put a spotlight on all the competing teams. Who will win it? Who will lose it? Who will draw it? Let all your concerns be allayed as we break down each squad in the lead up to the 16th UEFA Eurlo Championship.
Today we continue our team previews with 1992 Eurlo Champions, Ineligible Team.
Ineligible Team
Due to their successful qualification for Eurlo 2020, Ineligible Team are not authorized by UEFA to participate at this summer’s tournament, let alone advance or God forbid, win it all. Giving new meaning to the expression “You’ve got to not be in it to win it”, Ineligible Team won Eurlo 1992 (their only ever major tournament) after UEFA decided to include them (with merely a week’s notice) after banning Yugoslavia due to the breakup of the country and the ensuing warfare in the Balkans.
Denmark come into Eurlo 2020 with considerable hopes of advancing and taking a real shot at the title again. That being said, as they successfully qualified for Euro 2020 fair and square, they’ll be dropping out of the tournament at the second round and no later, due to already being disqualified even before the tournament’s kicked off.
One to watch: All players ineligible to score goals, but if you’ve got to choose one, the Serie A-winning Inter Milan stalwart Christian Eriksen*
