The games of the 32nd gloglimpiad are now well underway and here I highlight what makes the gloglympics truly special, the losers. Because as the old famous gloglympics edict goes, it’s not about winning and it’s not about competing it’s about LOSING, and more specifically Being a Big DUMB LOSER.

Today’s What! a! Loser! is: Russian judoka Tamerlin Bashaev
What a dumb loser! Bashaev flew all the way to Japan to lose. What a loser that loses! Bashaev is a dumb loser because losers are the type of people that try really hard and then don’t win and I would know because I have also lost things…. pssshttt…. Bashaev what a big dumb idiot and what a Big! Dumb! Loserrrrrrrr*
*His home made judogi with his ROC patch sewn on by his backyard mechanic uncle was not a loss though. Oh, and he did beat Ukraine’s Iakiv Khammo with an unbelievable ippon, the type you could only dream of doing in a huge contest, to claim the bronze medal in the 100+ kg class. Bashaev’s ippon was everything.**
